Not sure of your level? For private lessons we don't really need to know it but for group lessons we definitely need to have a pretty good idea of how you ski (and also the age of children). First Tracks offers great small group courses for total beginners up to intermediate levels. We obviously run seperate groups for adults and children. For advanced levels as we only need two participants to open a course we suggest you contact us to find out what we suggest we think will work best for you.
Please use the descriptions below to find your level.
ADULTS
Level 0 - For people who have never skied before: During this course you'll learn the basics in a safe and progressive environment. A small group of only 2 to 6 participants means that there is a nice group atmosphere where you can learn from others mistakes and maybe make some new friends whilst getting plenty of individual attention. Learn to balance on skis and get to grips with your equipment. You will learn how to turn, to stop and to use a simple lift.
Level 1 - For those who have already learnt the basics and are relatively comfortable on green runs this is the course for you. This level will help you improve your balance and technique, boosting confidence and reducing fatigue. You will master the elementary turn on green and blue runs and progress to simple parallel turns.
Level 2 - You can ski parallel and are confident on easy slopes. Joining a course at this level will help improve your balance and technique by correcting the weak points in your technique (position, posture, upper body etc.), enabling you to master the parallel turn on green and blue slopes.
Level 3 - For skiers who are comfortable on blue and red slopes. On this course your Coach will show you the best slopes and how to find the nicest snow whilst giving you valuable tips which will make your skiing easier and more fun. You will probably even conquer a black run or two!
CHILDREN
Mini Tracks - For young children aged between 4 and 6 who are just starting out. The small groups of 2-5 children mean they will get all the help and attention they need.
Beginner - For older children who have never skied before. They will work on skills such as snowplough turns and stops while learning basic mountain safety.
Crystal (1) - For children aged 7 and over. They will learn how to walk on skis, do snowplough turns and ski green runs, as well as all-important mountain safety.
Bronze (2) - For kids who already know the basics and wish to build on their knowledge of skiing and mountain safety. Focusing on skills such as side slipping, progressing to parallel turns and skiing blue and green runs.
Silver (3) - For children who can link snowplough turns on a blue run and are starting to learn how to do parallel turns. This level will mainly ski on blue and red runs.
But don't worry, should you find yourself in the wrong level group lessons,
your instructor will transfer you into the right class.
